After leaving the cast of ''Rica, Famosa, Latina'' in 2014 after the show's first season, Mexican-American entrepreneur Adriana Gallardo has stated she was approached by friends for advice about various matters, and she developed an increased in helping people achieve their life goals. According to Gallardo, the idea to start a new show first occurred to her in February 2015.〔 She soon began production on ''Taking Off with Adriana Gallardo,'' a reality series focused on Latino entrepreneurs and families.〔 As of April 15, 2015, the show was still technically under production, with the production team beginning to coordinate the audition process.〔 Auditions for participants started the first week of May 2015,〔 and participants were chosen through short videos where they shared personal stories. 〔
